'Try Curling' Sessions

Never tried the game of curling? Have you seen it on the TV or maybe been introduced to it by a friend who is a curler and wanted to have a go? Then these sessions are ideal for you.
Over the 3 hour session you will be taught the very basics of the game of curling, from how to get onto the ice sheet safely, how to sweep, get a feel for being on the ice and how a stone reacts to your input, and most importantly getting you to delivery a stone the full length of the rink.
Edinburgh Curling School work closely with both Murrayfield Curling Ltd and The Royal Caledonian Curling Club to provide come and try sessions throughout the curling season (Sep-April). These have been very well attended over the past few season, and we seen record numbers of new curlers coming to these sessions following the coverage of the Winter Olympics.

Beginners Course - 2012

Course Dates:
Saturday 6th Oct - 10:30am - 2:15pm
Sunday 7th Oct - 10:30am - 2:15pm
Sunday 14th Oct - 11:30pm - 1:15pm
Are you a total beginner, or have attended a come & try, or corporate session? Interested in taking up the sport? Then this is the course for you! Over the three days you will be taugh all you need to know about how the game is played, how to deliver and sweep a stone. The course is run over 3 sessions,
Session 1 is designed to get you onto the ice safely and to get you delivering a curling stone, with an elements of sweeping and a basic understanding of the rules.
Session 2, see's a short recap on the previous session and working with the coaches to better your skills in deliverying and sweeping. With the opportunity to have a short game near the end of the session.
Session 3, This final session is the culmination of the previous sessions. Bringing all your knowledge together and putting it into practice in a full game. At the end of the course details of clubs looking for new members will be provided along with information on joining the 'Edinburgh New Stones Virtual Curling Club' where you can further hone your skills before going off to join a mainstream curling club.
This course costs £50 per person, and places are limited. So please complete and return your Course Application form by Monday 1st Oct. 2012 to avoid disappointment.

Improvers Course 2012
Saturday 15th Sept. - 11:30am - 1:15pm
Are you an experinced curler :
- with a delivery problem?
- Want to change your delivery style?
- Picked up some bad habits?
Then this is the course for you! During the session we will analyse your delivery and provide feedback on how to improve. Using proven techniques, by the end of the session you should be delivering your own excellence to the head of the rink.
The course costs £25 per person. Places are limited, so please complete and return your Course Application from by Monday 10th Sep 2012 to avoid disappointment.
Club Coaching Sessions
Looking to run a Club coaching session? Then contact us to arrange a mutually suitable session where coaches will be on hand to give the club members assistance with all aspects of the game.
Coaching Fee's for a single session : £30 per coach.

Drop-in Classes
Drop-in sessions are provided on a Thursday lunchtime from 12:30 to 2:35pm. These sessions are for those wishing to have a coaching related to a specific area of their game. A full list of dates can be found in the attached 'Drop-in Sessions' document on the right of this page. Each session is £5 per person.
